¾ cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
¼ cup molasses (I use sorghum)
2¼ cups flour
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp soda
¾ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground cloves
¼ tsp salt
additional sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and molasses. Combine the flour, ginger, soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Roll in 1½" balls, then roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 350º for 10 to 12 minutes or until puffy and lightly browned. (I usually set the buzzer for 9 minutes and then went from there.)
