2 cups sugar
2 sticks butter, plus extra for buttering the cookie sheets
2 tsps salt
2 tsps baking powder
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups cake flour

Directions:
Directions:
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the sugar, butter, salt, and baking powder. Slowly add the eggs, vanilla, and flour, beatin guntil smooth. Wrap in waxed paper and chill for one hour.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out half the dough with a floured rolling pin to ¼-inch thickness. Keep the other half chilled. Using floured cookie cutters, cut out shapes and transfer to the buttered cookie sheet, allowing about one inch between cookies for expansion. Repeat with remaining dough.

Bake at 325ºF for 15 minutes or until very lightly browned around the edges. Remove from the baking sheet to cool on a rack. Decorate with glazes and sprinkles as desired.
