¾ cup butter
¾ cup sifted powdered sugar
Two tablespoons evaporated milk
¼ teaspoon salt
Two cups sifted flour

Filling:

½ pound (about 28) light colored candy caramels
¼ cup evaporated milk
¼ cup butter
one cup sifted powdered sugar
One cup chopped pecans

Icing:

One six ounce package semi-sweet morsels
⅓ cup evaporated milk
Two tablespoons butter
One teaspoons vanilla
½ cup sifted powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
To prepare cookies:

Cream butter
Gradually add powdered sugar; cream well.
Add vanilla, evaporated milk and salt. Mix well.
Blend in flour. If necessary, chill for easy handling.
Roll out dough; half at a time, on floured surface to a 12x8 inch rectangle..
Trim sides.
cut into 3x1½ or 2 inch squares.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 325º degrees for 13 to 16 minutes until lightly browned.
Let cool.

To prepare filling:

Combine caramels and evaporated milk on top of double boiler.
Heat until the caramels melt, stirring occasionally.
remove from heat.
Stir in butter, powdered sugar and pecans.

To prepare icing:

Melt one 6 ounce package of semi-sweet morsels with ⅓ cup evaporated milk over low heat.
Remove from heat.
Stir in butter, vanilla and powdered sugar.

Spread one teaspoon filling on each.
Top with ½ teaspoon icing.


Spread one teaspoon filling on each cookie.
Top with ½ teaspoon icing.
Decorate with pecan half, if desired.
