Ingredients:  
1 cup sugar
1¼ cup shortening (½ cup butter and ¾ cup shortening)
3 cups flour
½ tsp soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cream of tartar
2 eggs
3 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla

Icing:
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
2 Tbsp milk
2 tsp light corn syrup

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening (like pie crust). Then add eggs, milk and vanilla. Chill.
Roll thin and cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake 375º for 8-10 minutes.
Frost and decorate when cool or you can sprinkle with colored sugar before baking.

Icing:
Combine powdered sugar and milk, mix well. Add syrup and mix well. Can tint.
