2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
2 eggs
3 cups flour
1½ t. salt
⅔ cup cocoa
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
2 t. soda
1 cup hot water
2 t. vanilla
1 cup sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Beat sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla until creamy. Add flour, salt, and cocoa alternately with sour milk or buttermilk. Add sour cream and 1 cup hot water mixed with the 2 teaspoons soda in it. Beat well. Will make 2 round layers or one 9 by 13 pan. Bake in a 350º oven for 40 to 50 min. (In 9 by 13 pan I usually bake it for at least 50 min.)

Icing for cake

½ cup cocoa, ½ cup melted butter, 3 cups powdered sugar 2 to 3 T. milk. Stir together until smooth. If too thick add milk a tablespoon at a time. Frost cake while still warm.
