1 c dried cherries
Lg jar maraschino cherries
1 c sugar
1 c brown sugar
1 c butter softened
1 t baking soda
1 t salt
1 t vanilla
1 t almond ext
2 lg eggs
2 1/2 c flour
1/2 c chopped blanched almonds
1/4 c maraschino cherry juice
2 c cherrios
1-2 c white chocolate chips

PREHEAT 350º.
Place dried cherries in bowl and pour 1/4 c water or cherry juice over dried cherries. Heat for 90 sec and let set. Stir and cover with foil.
Place sugar and butter on MED until blended. Beat on HIGH. add soda, salt, vanilla and almond ext and mix. Add eggs. Add flour grad. Mix in almonds. If cherries cool enough, drain and throw out juice. Add 1/4 c cherry juice to mixing bowl and mix. Place cheerios in Ziploc and crush till coarse gravel. Add this and ships and mix well. Pat cherries with paper towel and add these. Spray pans with PAM and use parchment. Form walnut size 12/sheet. Cut cherries in 1/2 and press, rounded side up, on top of unbaked cookies. Bake 10-12 min. If spread out too much - refrig or add 1/3 c more flour. Then bake 10-12 min. Cool 2 min and to rack.
