½ c. water
½ c light corn syrup

2 egg whites

Directions:
Bring the first 3 ingredients to boil. Boil to a soft crack or firm ball stage.

In a mixer beat 2 egg whites until stiff peaks form. Add jello if using the option. Then add-- slowly pouring half of the above syrup into egg white while beating. Can add hello or flavoring here. Put other half back on stove. Cook to hard crack or it spins a thread. Add the egg white mixture with mixer running. Stir in nuts if desired.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper. Garnish with ½ or whole walnut piece on top if desired.

(for a tasty variation, don't cook syrup to as hard a stage, smaller spoonfuls, then dip melted part in melted chocolate.
