Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup milk
1 cup sugar
butter (size of egg)
2 cups milk
3 tbs flour
2 egg yolks

Directions:
Directions:
Cook in heavy pan until golden brown the 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup sugar and butter - stir constantly. This takes awhile. Mix together remaining ingredients and add to the first mixture, keep stiring over medium heat and it will become smooth. After it is smooth and thick, take off heat. When cool put into 9" baked pie shell.

I do not put anything (cool whip etc) on top because it takes away from the mild flavor of the pie. This recipe is from my grandmother Martha Swartzendruber who died of tuberculosis when she was 28 years old. It's fun to make and reminds me of how they used what they had for ingredients - no grocery store just around the corner! Enjoy!
