1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. sour milk
3/4 c. pecans
1 c. candied cherries, cut in helf
1 c. dates, cut up

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening and sugar. Add the egg and stir. Mix dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Add enough sour milk to make dough.

Drop big teaspoonfuls of dough on baking sheet. Place a pecan half on each cookie before baking.

Bake at 350º for 10 - 13 minutes.
