12 to 15 slices of bread, buttered and crusts removed
1-1/2 c white granulated sugar, divided 1 and 1/2
4 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt
4 c whole milk
2 tsp ground cinnamon, more or less, to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Layer 12 to 15 slices of bread in a 9-by-13-inch pan. Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar. Beat 4 eggs; add vanilla, salt, and milk. Mix well, and pour over the bread. Combine remaining sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle evenly on top. Bake for 40 minutes.
