1/2 lb. (2 sticks) margarine
1 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
3 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
1 can cherry pie filling
4 egg whites
4 T sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream margarine and sugar well. Add egg yolks. Mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix well to form a soft dough. Press evenly into 13" x 9" pan.
Cover with the cherry pie filling.
Bake at 350º for 25 minutes.
Make meringue with the 4 egg whites and 4 T of sugar.
Spread over the pastry and bake four minutes or until meringue is a golden brown.
Cool completely before cutting into bars.
