5 pounds all purpose white or dark German flour
2 cups shortening
3 pints water, lukewarm
3 Tablespoons dry yeast
4 heaping Tablespoons sugar
1 cup powdered milk
3 ounce yellow cheese, grated

Directions:
Directions:
Mix as for any yeast dough. Knead until surface is dry, adding more flour if necessary. Let rise until double in bulk. Knead again. Form into loaves, put in pans, let rise to double in bulk. Bake at 350* for one hour.

For a deep brown soft crust you may add 2 cups powdered potatoes to original recipe.
