1/3 cup bacon drippings

1 egg
4-6 cups whole wheat flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the boiling water with the oats and bacon grease and set aside to cool. Put I a mixing bowl and add the corn meal, cheese and egg. Add 4 cups flour and mix. Add more flour until well blended and not sticky. Roll out about 1/8 to 1/4 inch think on floured board and cut with small round or bone shaped cutters, or just cut into small squares. Spread onto parchment lined cookie sheets and bake at 325 until lightly browned and crisp - about 30 minutes.

Variations - sub peanut butter for some or all of the cheese. Add minced cooked bacon, and beef or chicken base or bouillon granules. This basic dough is so easy to handle that it is easy to mess with. Just add enough flour so it is not sticky before rolling it out. Roll them thinly or they won’t crisp up
