1 c raisins and 1/2 c water
½ c. butter or shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
½ t. baking powder
½ t. salt
½ t. cinnamon
½ c. chopped nuts (if desired)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil water and raisins for 5 minutes and cool. Cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients and mix in raisin mixture. Spoon onto greased baking sheet and bake at 350º for 8-10 min. Cool on rack

This is another one of grandma Brimley's recipes. I remember her cookie can was always filled with these, and judging from her hand written recipe, it was and is a favorite!
