1 stick butter
1 cup milk
pinch of soda

Directions:
Heat milk and add a pinch of soda to it. Keep warm.

Cook sugar and butter together until it turns a light golden color. Add heated milk, stirring to keep from lumping. Cook until soft ball stage.

To spread on cake: Pour a small amount at a time into a small bowl. Beat until thick and spread of first layer. Then pour another small amount and beat this until thick. Spread on the same layer (this makes the layer of frosting thicker). Put next cake layer on and beat frosting as for the first. Continue frosting top and sides of cake.
