1/3 C soft shortening
1 C brown sugar (packed)
1 1/2 C dark molasses
2/3 C cold water

1 t salt
1 t allspice
ginger, clove and cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, brown sugar and molasses. Stir in water. Blend all dry ingredients and stir into mix. Chill two hours. Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick. Cut desired shapes and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Frost with powdered sugar frosting.
