1 c. butter, softened
1 c. brown sugar
1 pint black molasses, warmed
7 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 Tbsp. baking soda
2 - 3 Tbsp. ground cloves
4 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
4 Tbsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter with sugar; add warm molasses. Add baking soda to boiling water and stir into the creamed mixture.
In another bowl, combine flour with spices and salt. Add to the creamed mixture a small amount at a time and combine well. Knead dough with hands until slick. Cover and store in refrigerator overnight or longer.
Roll out dough as thin as possible. Use different shaped cookie cutters or just a round one.
Bake at 375 º until they begin to brown and remove from oven. Watch the cookies carefully as they will burn easily!
