7 lbs. lg. Cukes
2 c. Slaked lime

Syrup:
2 qt. White vinegar
9 c. White sugar
3 tsp. Salt

Spices:
1 tsp. Celery seed
3 tsp. Pickling spice
1 tsp. Whole cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Peel cucumbers, seed and cut in desired pieces. Soak in 2 cups of lime and 2 gal. Water for 24 hours. Wash and rinse in clear water . Then soak in clear water for 3 hours.

Make the syrup. Put the spices in a bag. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Let cool and pour over drained cucumbers. The next day simmer the cucumbers and syrup for 35 minutes. Add green food coloring, I used a bottle. Seal hot. This makes 6 qts.

Slaked lime can be found in the canning supplies. These are a lot of work but very good!
