Directions:
Dough:
Heat milk slowly (do not boil), set aside 1/3 c. to cool slightly.

Combine 1/2 tsp. sugar with yeast; add to 1/3 c. lukewarm milk and let stand for 10 minutes.

Add butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt to remaining 2/3 c. hot milk. Stir until butter is melted. Add eggs and yeast mixture. Stir in flour; knead and let rise for 1 hour.

Filling:
Cook milk, sugar, and poppy seed; add egg and vanilla. Simmer until thick. Let cool.

When dough is ready cut in half; should be able to get two rolls out of this. Using a rolling pin, roll each into a rectangle on a lightly floured board; do not roll dough too thin. Spread filling on rolled out dough, then roll up jelly-roll fashion and pinch edges together. Place on greased baking sheet or parchment paper seam side down. Bake at 350ºF (175ºC) for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown..
