1 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 t. salt
1/2 t. Almond extract
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1 egg yolk, reserve egg white

Optional Toppings

Colored sugar OR Almond Glaze (recipe below)

Directions:
Blend sugar, butter, cream cheese, salt, extracts and egg yolk. Mix in flour until well blended. Refrigerate dough for 2 hours.

Heat oven to 375º. Roll out dough, one-third at a time on a lightly floured surface. Use cookie cutter dipped in flour. Place on ungreased cook sheet. (Optional: beat egg white and brush cookie tops and sprinkle with colored sugar.)

Bake 7 - 10 minutes or until bottoms are lightly golden brown.

Almond Glaze:
1 c. powdered sugar
1/4 t. Almond extract
2 T. water
4 drops of food coloring

Stir all ingredients until smooth. Use 1 t. per cookie or make thicker by adding more powdered sugar and use a zip bag to decorate cookie tops.
