Ingredients:  
CRUST:
3 cups flour
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup shortening (cut into flour mixture)
enough water to make a nice dough
roll out twice as big as a 9 x 13 pan
place crust in the center of the 9 x 13 with crust overlapping on all sides

Fill with sliced, peeled apples
Add 1 ½ cups sugar on top of apples
slice ⅓ cup stick butter and place on top of sugar
sprinkle with cinnamon.
pull the crust dough up and cover the top of apples

On the top
pour 3 cups water over the top of crust
sprinkle 1 cup of sugar &
slice another ⅓ cup of stick butter on the top

Bake at 350º for 45 min - 1 hour....Till apples are done and crust a golden brown. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

Grandma Marge was a very good cook but rarely used a recipe. One day she was making this when I was there so I stood beside her and wrote this recipe as she would take a handful of flour which we thought was about a cup etc. I really don't think you can ruin this recipe and I know when you go to pour 3 cups of water on top you will wonder if the recipe is right...Has always been our families favorite apple dessert.
