This was my Grandma Gebel's recipe:

1 C butter
2½ C sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 C sour cream
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
6-7 C flour
Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Rotate adding dry ingredients and sour cream. Mix until combined. Chill dough for at least one hour. Roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350º for 7-9 minutes.Frost and decorate.
