3 large potatoes
1 lb ground pork
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 clove minced garlic
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
double-pie crust

Directions:
Directions:
Cook, drain, and mash potatoes, leaving some lumps. Brown pork and drain off fat. Add all other ingredients (adjusting to taste). Cover and simmer, stirring often, to boil down liquids. Discard bay leaf. Stir in potatoes; cool. Fill pie crust, cover with 2nd pie crust, vent top. Cook approximately 50 minutes at 400 degrees.

Susan and I (Diane) loved making this Canadian French meat pie. When I would serve it, I would slice it like a dessert pie, and then raise the top crust, on that slice, and put a little bit of mustard on top of the meat. I used Gulden's because it gave a nice kick. Using fresh spices will ensure a nice spice flavor. If you'd like to use Allspice, you can use that also, perhaps a pinch in addition to the ginger and cloves.
