1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted real butter - melted; then cool for 5 minutes
1-1/2 cups light brown sugar - packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs - room temperature
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup maple syrup
3-1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups chocolate chips

In large mixing bowl, stir the melted butter with the sugars.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Stir in vanilla and maple syrup.

In separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir until combined well.
Stir in chocolate chips.

Cover bowl with Saran Wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
While dough is chilling, preheat oven to 350º.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Scoop a rounded tablespoon of dough into balls. Place 2 inches apart. On my cookie sheet, I get 15 cookies.
Bake for 13 minutes until the edges just starting to turn golden brown. The cookies will look like they are undercooked but don't overcook them. These are soft cookies.
Cool completely ON THE COOKIE SHEET.
Remove after they have cooked; about 10 minutes.
Keep unbaked dough in refrigerator while waiting to put next batch in.

These are some of the best I have tried. I think it's the maple syrup. And I like soft cookies.
Follow recipe exactly as written; don't take shortcuts!
