Ingredients:
Ingredients:
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup Sugar
3 large eggs
2 tsp anise extract or 1 tsp anise oil
2 ½ - 3 cups Flour
1 Tbsp Baking Powder
2-3 Tbsp Milk

Icing

2 cups Confectioner’s Sugar
3 Tbsp Milk
⅛ tsp Anise extract or oil
Decorative sprinkles

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350

Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.

For cookies, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition. Add anise.
Blend flour and baking powder. Start by adding about ⅓ of the dry ingredients to the butter/sugar in your mixer, then add 1 Tbsp Milk. Add another ⅓ of the flour and another 1 Tbsp Milk. Finally, mix in enough of the remaining flour until your dough is like a brownie batter (it should be softer than a drop cookie dough).
Roll dough into 1 Tbsp balls - use wet fingers to pat any rough edges.
Bake cookies 10-12 minutes (they won’t be brown but the inside will be soft and cake-like)

For the Icing

Mix, sugar, milk and extract to make a sugar glaze. Hold cookie in your hand and turn upside and dip the top of the cookie into the glaze, turn over and place on waxed paper, top with decorative sprinkles. Allow icing to harden overnight; then stores in air-tight container or freeze.
