¾ cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup sugar
1 egg
¼ cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups oats
1 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. soda

Optional to add (to a double recipe):
2-3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
½ tsp. nutmeg
1 large bag (12oz.) chocolate chips
peanut and butter to shortening measurement in combination to equal 1½ cups

Oven 350º. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients. Place by teaspoonfulls on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes.
