1 cup butter
1 ½ cups sugar (Einar says 2 cups)
4 eggs
1 cup half and half (no liquid in Einar's)
1 tsp almond extract (Einar says ¼ tsp)
½ tsp vanilla (per Einar, not Grandma)
1 cup chopped nuts
3 tsp baking powder (rounded)
½ tsp salt
2-3 cups flour (Einar says 4 cups)

Einar Norberg was Grandma Palmquist's brother-in-law, he was married to Ida Hult. (He was a missionary doctor in Tanzania and was on the ZamZam when it sunk). Needless to say, he was also a Swede.

Beat the eggs well, set aside. Cream butter, add sugar and then eggs, flavorings and nuts. Add the flour, salt and baking powder. Mix well.
Make into small loaves (5 or 6).
Bake 30 minutes at 375º
Let cool for about 10 minutes then cut ¾ " thick.
Dry quickly to avoid toughness - Dry by baking until light brown 300º-350º for about 30 minutes. Or put in hot oven, turn off and let dry for 1 hour.
