2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tarter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup milk (approximately)

Preheat oven to 375º

Sift together the dry ingredients, then quickly cut in the shortening using two butter knives or a cutting tool. Add the mix gradually, mixing gently as you go. Do NOT knead or handle the dough too much. Just mix enough until it all holds together, turn out onto a lightly floured board and pat down to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out circles and put on cookie sheet.

Bake at 375 for about 12-15 minutes, until lightly golden.
