Directions:
Heat water to a little more than lukewarm-hot enough to activate the yeast. Add first sugar & yeast to water & set aside. Put flour in a large bowl; make hole in center. Add the ¼ Cup of sugar, salt, oil & milk. (Milk should be the same temp as the water was). Add the yeast mixture. Mix to a smooth ball of dough kneading for a few minutes. Grease bowl well with some oil. Let rise until double. Punch down & knead. Let rise again. Punch down & knead a little more. Make into 12 rolls. Put in 9X13 pan. Let rise again. Bake at 350º for 20-30 minutes or until golden on tops. Apply butter on top of rolls when finished baking & still hot.

Personal Notes:
Great-Great Greema Wilma Harkins was always making hot rolls or bread for family gatherings. PopBob wanted to know how she did it and she gave him this way to make them. When he asked her how much a 'palm full' was she simply held out her hand and said, "This much". When he asked her how much was a 'glug of oil' was she said to tip the bottle and pour out until it GLUGS. He asked "What is everlasting yeast?" She replied, Oh You know that jar I keep near the stove and add to it from time to time? Well that's the everlasting yeast, the only yeast I had to bake with for years."
It took a few times to 'fine tune' the recipe to his liking but finally 'got it'. I just thought you might like to have this recipe for a smile or two.
