1 large orange
½ cup raisins
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
½ tsp soda
½ cup chopped nuts
1 egg
2 tsp melted shortening
1 tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Squeeze juice from orange, reserving peel, add enough boiling water to juice to make 1 cup. Put orange peel and raisins through food chopper. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, sugar and salt. Add fruit mixture and nuts. Add orange juice. Beat egg -- add with shortening and vanilla. Pour into greased loaf pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven 50 minutes. Loaf pan 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 pan.
