½ cup crisco/shortening
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar - packed
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
¾ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
½ c chopped nuts if desired
1 6 oz package chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add rest of ingredients and blend well.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts
Drop 2" apart on greased cookie sheet.
Bake 375º 10-12 minutes

Remove from pan immediately.

This recipe came from Mikes secretary, Verne Wenert back in the 80's, and Mike swears its the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever! (Sorry, Grandma Simon....yours are good too!)
