1 cup boiling water
1 package chopped dates
2 cup Crisco/butter
1 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cover dates with boiling water and set aside.
Cream together Crisco and sugar. Add in the beaten eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl sift together flour, soda, and salt, then add to egg mixture. Add dates in and mix thoroughly. Put in 9x13 greased pan. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup nuts and chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
