1 16 oz. canned pears
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. mace
1 tsp. grated orange peel
1 c. chopped pecans
Pecan halves (optional)
Directions:
Directions:
Oven - 375º.

Drain pears. Save 1/2 c. syrup. Chop pears.
Blend sugar, shortening, egg. Add pear syrup.
Combine flour, b. soda, b. powder, salt, mace, and orange peel.
Beat into mixture.
Stir in pecans.
Space cookies well to allow to spread on greased sheet.
Top with pecan half.
Bake 15 min.

Makes 1 1/2 dozen.
