Personal Notes:
Hilda made these cookies often for Elwood, because she said "all little boys love cookies." On my first visit back to see Daddy after Mom's death, I made these for him. I was thinking comfort food. When I walked into the kitchen (with its avocado green formica), there was a plate of these cookies on the counter. I asked Daddy who made them for him. He gave me that look, and told me he made them. He could read; therefore, he could cook. I quit worrying about him starving to death.
