Basic sugar glaze.

1½ cups confectioners' sugar, sifted to remove lumps.
3-4 tbsp milk or water
2 tsp vanilla extract (Optional)

For Lemon Glaze

add 1 tsp. fresh grated lemon zest.

For Orange Glaze

add ¼ tsp. orange zest and 1 tbsp. orange juice. Do not add water or milk.

Place sugar in a bowl and slowly stir in milk and vanilla, a little at a time, to make a smooth, pourable glaze.
add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin.

Maple Glaze: 2 cups confectioner's sugar and 1/2 cup maple syrup.
