1 pound hamburger
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 cup cracker crumbs or bread crumbs
1 large can tomato juice
1 onion, sliced

Directions:
Directions:
Mix hamburger, egg, salt, pepper and cracker crumbs together. Add just enough tomato juice to moisten the mixture. Make into 4 patties. Brown both sides in a skillet with just a little oil. Place an onion slice on each pattie. Pour tomato juice over patties making sure they're covered. Simmer for about an hour or until patties and onions are cooked through.

Make a gravy with the tomato juice in the skillet by mixing 1 tablespoon of flour with a little water (about ½ cup) and combine well. Pour into tomato juice and stir until thickened . You may need to make a little more flour slurry if the tomato juice doesn't get thick enough.Serve over hamburgers and mashed potatoes. need to
