¼ c. Butter
2½ c. Dried Elbow Macaroni
1 c. Cubed Ham (optional)
2 c. Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
3 tbs. All-Purpose Flour
½ tsp. Salt
⅛ tsp. Black Pepper
4 c. Milk

Preheat oven to 350º F

In a 2 - 3 quart saucepan melt Butter over medium heat. Pour 2 tbs. of the butter into a 2 - 2½ quart casserole or baking dish. Add dried macaroni, stir to coat with Butter. Add ham, if desired. Stir in Cheese. For sauce, stir Flour, Salt, and Pepper into the remaining 2 tbs. Butter in saucepan. Stir in Milk. Cook and stir for over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 1 minute more. Pour sauce over macaroni mixture. Bake, covered, 1 hour or until macaroni is tender and coated with sauce. Stir, let stand 10 minutes before serving.
