1 cup shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. soda and salt
1 rec. date filling

cream short sugars add egg milk vanilla beat we'll. sift dry ingredients and add to mixture
chill at least 1 hour
roll half the dough at a time to 1/8 inch think uncreased cookie sheet

10 mins and 375 degrees
