Dissolve yeast and 1 Tbs sugar in lukewarm water. Let stand.

In a large bowl, mix flour, 1/2 cup sugar, salt and butter as for pie crust until mixture resembles small peas. Beat eggs with vanilla and sour cream. Add yeast mixture and blend thoroughly. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the liquid.

Knead dough well. If sticky add a little more flour and knead till elastic.Place dough in lightly greased bowl, cover and raise for 2 hours.

After 2 hours, divide dough into 4 equal parts. Let stand while making filling.

Roll dough out on lightly floured surface till 15’’x15’’. Spread filling clear to all edges of dough. Roll up tightly as for jelly roll, tucking in ends as you go.

Place 2 or 3 rolls to a greased cookie sheet, cover and let raise for 1 hour. Brush rolls with beaten egg and prick with a fork across the top.

Bake: 350 for 30-35 minutes or till golden. Cool in pan completely before removing.
