1 cup butter (no substitutions)
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract
2 ½ cups flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
2 cups chopped almonds (slivered are OK)
1 pkg. (6-8 oz) English toffee bits

Directions:

Cream together butter, sugar and powdered sugar.

Add oil, eggs and almond extract. Mix well.

Add flours, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Mix well.

Stir in almonds and toffee bits.

Shape in 1" balls and roll in sugar (I never do this). Place on UNGREASED baking sheet. Flatten with a fork. Bake at 350º F. for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes about 12 dozen.
