3 tbsp. Sugar
2 cups warm water
1 pkg. Active dry yeast
2 tsp. Salt
3 tbsp. Butter
1 large egg
5 1/3 cups flour
2 tsp. Butter, for brushing tops

Directions:
Directions:
Stir sugar into water in large bowl. Sprinkle yeast over top. Let stand 10 minutes. Stir to dissolve yeast.

Add salt, first amount of butter, egg and 1/2 the flour. Beat on low to moisten. Beat on medium until smooth. Work in enough remaining flour until dough pulls away from sides of bowl. Cover with greased wax paper and tea towel. Let stand in oven with light on and door closed for an hour. Work batter down. Divide into 2 greased loaf pans. Cover with waxed paper and tea towel. Let stand in oven with light on and door closed for 30 minutes.

Bake in 350º for 30 minutes.

Brush warm tops with butter.
