1 cup pecans
1 cup chocolate wafer cookie crumbs
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 cup rum
powdered sugar or coloured sugar or crushed candy canes for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Grind pecans finely in food processor. Mix in a big bowl with chocolate wafer crumbs. Mix in the sugar, corn syrup and rum very thoroughly with your hands. Shape the mixture into balls the size of a quarter. Roll in powdered sugar or crushed candy canes.

Keep in airtight container in a cool place or freeze on a baking sheet until each is firm. Can store in plastic containers or tightly sealed plastic bags.

Yields 2 to 3 dozen.

These rum balls were made every year by Jo-An Mason who worked at the Macklin Library at the same time that I was employed there. She always brought them in to our Christmas party and they are delicious.
