2 C Sugar
1 C Butter, or 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening
1 Egg
1 T Grated orange or lemon zest
1 C Sour Cream
3 1/2 C All purpose flour
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Baking powder
Pecans for top if desired

Preheat oven to 375º

Cream together sugar and butter until fluffy. Add egg and zest, beat well. Mix in sour cream. Sift together flour, salt, soda, and baking powder; add to first mixture and mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in granulated sugar. Press into the cookie a pecan half if desired.

Bake for 12-15 minutes.
