½ sugar
1 Tbl. cornstarch
2½ cups of canned fruit or berries and juice
Butter
Cinnamon, ground

Topping:
1 cup sifted flour
1 Tbl. sugar
1½ tsp. baking powder
½ salt
3 Tbl. shortening or margarine
½ cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º
Mix fruit plus juice, cornstarch and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Pour into 1½ quart casserole dish. Dot with butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
For topping, sift together flour, baking powder, salt.
Add shortening and cut in with pastry cutter or two knives until granular. Add milk.
Drop by spoonfuls on top of hot fruit.
Bake until golden brown, 25-30 mintues.
