¼ cup shortening
½ tsp soda
¼ cup butter
2 tbsp hot water
½ cup brown sugar
¾ cup flour
½ tsp vanilla
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 cup oatmeal

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, butter, brown sugar and vanilla.
Mix soda and hot water then add to mixture.
Combine flour, salt and nutmeg, Stir in oats and add dry ingredients.
Shape into 1 inch balls and flatten with fork & bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
