2 Tb flour
2 Tb cornstarch
1/2 tsp sale
2/3 C sugar
2 C milk
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tb shortening

Blend dry ingredients in saucepan. Stir in milk and bring to boil over low heat. Cook til thick, stirring constantly.

Stir in egg yolks that have been lightly beaten with a little of the sauce.

Cook over low heat stirring constantly. Stir in vanilla and shortening.

Cool slightly and pour over crust.

For chocolate cream pie:

Increase sugar to 3/4 C and add 2 squares unsweetened chocolate along with milk.
