1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup hot water
1 tsp vanilla

Cake batter:
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup milk
2 1/2 tbsp shortening
2 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

Pour syrup on the bottom of two unbaked pie shells. Pour batter on top of syrup.

Bake at 350ºF approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
