Ingredients:
Ingredients:

1 c brown sugar
½ c butter or margarine
¼ c white corn syrup
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
3 -4 quarts hot air popped popcorn
(use about ½ c of kernels)

Directions:
Directions:
Pop corn and pour into a large brown paper bag (that is the best if you can still find them) or a large microwaveable bowl that you could cover with a plate or something else. Then combine all ingredients, except soda and popcorn, in a 1 ½ to 2 quart microwavable bowl. Bring this to a boil on full power in the microwave, and then cook on full power for 2 minutes. Remove from the microwave (this is VERY hot, not a recipe for kids to do) and stir in the soda. Immediately pour the syrup over the corn. Roll the bag closed (or cover the bowl) and shake well. Cook again in microwave for 1½ min. Shake. Cook 1 ½ min. Shake. Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet to cool, spread/stir for a minute, so it does not all stick together. If it is still sticky when it cools, try and extra minute of cooking the next time, but spots will burn if microwaved too long. Note: I now most often make ½ a recipe of the syrup for a full batch of popcorn, and it is very good too.
