3/4 CUP SUGAR

1 TEASPOON VANILLA

1 EGG

4 TEASPOONS MILK

2 CUPS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR

1 1/2 TEASOONS BAKING POWDER

1/2 TEASPOON SALT

CREAM SHORTENING, SUGAR, AND VANILLA

ADD EGG, BEAT UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY

STIR IN MILK

COMBINE DRY INGREDIENTS

BLEND IN CREAMED MIXTURE

DIVIDE DOUGH IN HALF

CHILL ONE HOUR

ON LIGHTLY FLOURED BOARD, ROLL TO 1/8 INCH THICKNESS

CUT IN DESIRED SHAPES

BAKE ON GREASED COOKIE SHEET AT 375 DEGREES FOR 6-8 MINUTES

COOL SLIGHTLY

REMOVE FROM PAN

MAKES 2 DOZEN

CHILL OTHER HALF UNTIL READY TO USE
