1 c brown sugar, packed
1 c butter, softened
1 c pecans, chopped
1 tsp cream of tartar
½ tsp baking soda
2 lg eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3½ c flour, all purpose

Directions:
Directions:
In a bowl sift together the flour, cream of tartar and baking soda. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, sugar and brown sugar.

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well.

Add the vanilla, mix well.

Add the flour, mix well. Stir in the chopped nuts.

Divide the dough into 3 equal pieces. On long sheets of wax paper or plastic wrap, roll out into logs, approximately 2 inches in diameter. Wrap tightly. Refrigerate until completely chilled. At least 6-8 hours.

To bake: Unwrap one of the logs. Using a sharp knife, slice about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick slices. Place on untreated cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for approximately 10 minutes.
